Traditionally, about 2-3 weeks before a competition or showcase, I hit the panic button without even thinking about it. I start to freak out that I will not get all my dances together in time. I hit it last night in my lesson. Although I am far more prepared for this competition than I have been at previous comps, I now have a "routine" for each dance that I have to remember...I've never had routines before...plus remember all the technique - foot, leg, hip, shoulder, arm and head positions.
My former teacher would wait until 2-3 weeks before competition to start working all the dances. This year, I've been working all of them throughout the year and now we are polishing...
And yet I panic.
I panic because it is a lot to remember.
I panic because I get to dance Silver level which I've never done before.
I panic because our office is moving into a new building the week before competition and I have to pack and unpack all within a week.
I panic because I know my former teacher and studio will be there...
This is where my prayer request for "great faith to learn and execute all the dances" comes in.
2 Cor 3:5 says "Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God."
and Phil 4:13 "I can do everything through Him who gives me strength."
I am acceptable and able to dance waltz, fox trot, tango, Viennese waltz, cha cha, rumba, swing, bolero and mambo.
