Supposedly mom will be moved to rehab today...we'll see. Pretty much every other day she is vomiting. But I think it's a combination of the medication and hospital food. When she feels good, she eats. But the next day, she doesn't feel good and can't keep anything down. My "professional" opinion is that she needs broth or soup, crackers and some jello until she can move up to solid food. Instead they give her pasta, sandwiches w/ onions, hamburgers - you name it. Doesn't make sense to me but I'm just the daughter. The good news is that she is following our conversations and chiming in. Yesterday I took a few pics from my dance competition to show her. When the nurse came in, she showed them to her and told her we live in White Settlement. She hasn't been able to remember White Settlement all week so that is a milestone.
I think it bothers my brother and sister - especially my brother - that I don't stay at the hospital long. My sister is there early in the morning and stays until visiting hours are over. My brother comes after work and stays until visiting hours are over. Mom has told both of them it worries her when they both stay. And I know from living with her, she doesn't like a ton of people checking on her to see if she's ok or needs anything. My job is to call her friends and give updates which is tiring in itself. I work all day, go to the hospital and come home and get on the phone. I took a break from it over the weekend. I got some much needed sleep.
