New Wheels & A Stick Shift

As you know, mom is home now. I took the day off yesterday to stay w/ her. She is doing really good. She still needs some assistance getting out of bed and sometimes getting out of a chair or off the toilet. But once she is up, she is very mobile. She gets up and does her exercises on her own w/o being told to. Thankfully she has always enjoyed exercise so she already has the mindset that this will help her get better. She got her new wheelchair and 4-footed cane yesterday (new wheels & stick shift). They sent her home w/ a wheelchair but it was not wide enough for her. She told the man at the rehab that it was too small but he said she would get used to it. She now has one w/ the correct width. She's actually been a pretty good patient. She wants to get better and she knows it will take work so she doesn't resist when someone tells her to do something.

On a side note, my brother David & his wife & three youngest children, are coming home for Christmas. His two oldest children and their spouses live in the Dallas area. Another daughter & her husband will hold down the fort in Nairobi while her parents are here. David is a missionary in Kenya and this will be our first Christmas together in 25 years! Everyone's excited to have the family together again for the holidays!
